2.     Jewett, Paul. The Ordination of Women: An Essay on the Office of Christian Ministry (a book I return to time and time again. Lays out all the arguments with scriptural support, explores both sides, but advocates for women’s ordination)

3.     Mark Chaves. Ordaining Women: Culture and Conflict in Religious Organizations

4.     Jewett, Paul. MAN as male and female (a theology of human sexuality)

5.     Johnson, Elizabeth. She Who Is: The Mystery of God in Feminist Theological Discourse (a deep, deep dive into feminist theology. Won the Louisville Grawemeyer Award in Religion in 1993)

6.     Kilbourn, Phyllis (editor). Shaping the Future: Girls and Our Destiny (provides a multicultural lense on “the girl child” and risk factors that shape her life)

7.     Osiek, Carolyn and Margaret MacDonald (with Janet Tulloch). A Woman’s Place: House Churches in Earliest Christianity

8.     Pierce, Ronald (with Rebecca Groothuis). Discovering Biblical Equality: Complementarity without Hierarchy (a work of systematic theology and a foundational text, required reading at Fuller Theological Seminary)

9.     Ruether, Rosemary Radford. Women and Redemption: A Theological History  

10.  Solnit, Rebecca. Men Explain Things To Me (credited with inspiring the term “mansplaining,” this work gives a great journalistic overview of gender-based violence and the continuum of violence: from sexism and misogyny to rape and murder)

11.  Tucker, Ruth and Walter Liefeld (editors). Daughters of the Church: Women and ministry from New Testament times to the present (foundational text that provides a broad, historical overview; read all things Ruth Tucker)
